The Dad Basket was born on June 7, 2020. RGV DADS partnered with The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley - Healthy Families and Jeremy San Miguel to give a Dad Basket to Tony Alvarez.
The purpose of the Dad Basket is to provide items for the baby and Dad as he is about to welcome a new child into the world. RGV DADS wants the father to understand that he is an integral part of the family dynamic. It is important to celebrate Dad and encourage his involvement before and after his infant arrives.
Numerous Dad Baskets have been given to fathers in the Rio Grande Valley over the years. Today we are thankful for our partnership with H-E-B. The floral department at H-E-B (1212 S. Closner Blvd., Edinburg, TX) does an amazing job assembling Dad Baskets! They are filled with diapers, wipes, bottles, stuffed animals, and even snacks, chips, protein drinks, and protein bars for the father!
