RGV DADS Featured on KRGV’s "Take 5" for National Daughters Day

On today’s special episode of KRGV’s Take 5, in honor of National Daughters Day, RGV DADS was invited to share about their impactful work in the Rio Grande Valley community. Hosted on weekdays at 4 PM and weekends at 10:30 AM, Take 5 showcases everything the Valley has to offer, from food to local events, and today’s theme was all about celebrating daughters.

Jesus Peña Highlights RGV DADS Initiatives

Representing RGV DADS, Jesus Peña discussed their mission and community outreach. RGV DADS is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization providing essential resources for fathers in the region. During the segment, Jesus introduced Zoom Into Dad’s Mental Health, a hybrid support group offering mental health resources to fathers throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Dads can meet in person at local coffee shops, such as Weslaco’s Daily Grind or Betuzas Coffee Cafe, or they may join via Zoom, making it accessible for all.

Fun and Free Activities for Kids and Families

In addition to mental health support, Jesus shared information about the Home Depot Kids Workshop, a monthly hands-on event that RGV DADS promotes. This workshop is free and allows families to bond while participating in fun, educational DIY activities for children.

Upcoming Event: RGV Down Syndrome Awareness Walk

Jesus also highlighted an important upcoming event—the Rio Grande Valley Down Syndrome Association Awareness Walk. The mission of the RGV Down Syndrome Association is to build relationships, advocacy, and support for individuals with Down syndrome and their families in the Rio Grande Valley.

Get Involved with RGV DADS

To wrap up, Jesus encouraged dads to connect with RGV DADS through their website and social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and X, where they regularly post updates and ways to get involved.
