RGV DADS was founded in July 2018 by Jesus T. Peña, M.Ed. When he began his fatherhood journey in 2009, resources were limited. He searched the internet and began making connections in a social manner with fathers in New York and California. There are no groups for Dads south of Austin, Texas. RGV DADS is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. The Rio Grande Valley is comprised of four counties with a population of 1,389,750 people.
